Jenifer Thai, aka “JT” is our founder, designer, and jewelry maker here at IO Collective. This gorgeous mama-to-be and her husband are expecting their first child. We couldn’t be more excited for them in this transition in their lives! JT recently had a stunning desert boho maternity photoshoot and we are elated to share our favorite images from the session.
Both June and JT absolutely love cacti. So much so that they even imported some to Bali for their destination wedding. JT’s good friend and photographer for the shoot, Tiffany lives in Arizona, so naturally, a desert setting was the perfect fit for this very special session. The couple drove up and spent the weekend at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort and Spa, making the weekend a babymoon getaway as well!
THE SHOOT
The shoot location was situated just outside of Scottsdale, Arizona, which contributed perfectly to the carefree, whimsical vibes they had in mind. JT rented a beautiful flowing boho maternity dress from Reclamation Design Company, an imaginative design company known for creating one-of-a-kind dreamy dresses. During the shoot, JT was already eight and a half months pregnant and forgot to bring the proper nude sandals she wanted to wear for the session. She wound up shooting barefoot, which looked absolutely amazing ⏤ but was quite painful for her in the desert. Talk about going with the flow!
All of the images in this shoot were taken in medium format film before Tiffany transferred them to digital, so every photo was well thought out and precise. June was originally only there for moral support and didn’t want to be a part of the shoot, but JT coaxed him into popping in for a few images near the end, which turned out breathtaking! We can hardly wait to meet baby Colette!
